Pulse vs SmartTask:
the established name vs the operator-built one.

SmartTask (by Skillweb) is an established UK workforce-management platform for security, cleaning and FM — with real credentials: ISO 27001 certified (per their site), SIA ACS-focused features, BS 7858-aligned vetting and serious lone-worker protection. We’ll credit all of that plainly. The honest differences are transparency, verification philosophy, and what you can see before you buy.

Where SmartTask is strong — from their own site

Verified on smarttask.co.uk as of July 2026: workforce management positioned around SIA ACS audits; vetting and onboarding built around BS 7858; lone-worker protection at scale (they cite 432,000 lone-worker protection calls); ISO 27001 certification since 2017. If ISO 27001 on the vendor is a hard requirement for you today, SmartTask has it and Pulse doesn’t yet — ours is on the roadmap, and we’d rather say that plainly than dodge it.

One thing worth knowing before you research

As of July 2026 we could find no independent user reviews of Skillweb’s SmartTask on the major review platforms — and take care when searching: the “SmartTask” listed on Capterra and GetApp (4.6/5) is an unrelated project-management product from a different company. That’s not a criticism of SmartTask — plenty of solid UK B2B software has a thin review footprint — but it does mean your evaluation will rest on the demo rather than on peer reviews. Check for yourself; don’t take our word for it.

Where each platform points

SmartTask leads with workforce management: scheduling, proof of attendance, lone worker, alarm response and keyholding. Pulse leads with proof of service: every checkpoint verified by a watermarked photo with GPS and time, a tamper-evident occurrence book, statutory/FM compliance registers, and a white-label portal where your clients see delivered-vs-contract and the evidence itself. Both are UK-built. The philosophical difference: attendance systems prove someone was on site; Pulse is built to prove what was actually done, visibly, to the client.

How to read this page. This is a feature-and-transparency comparison, not a critique: where we cite reviews they are independent, quoted and linked; statements about the vendor’s product come from their own public website as of July 2026 — products change, so verify current features and terms with the vendor directly. All trademarks belong to their respective owners; Pulse is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
