Silvertrac Alternative 2026: Best UK Options Compared

Last updated: 25 October 2026

A Silvertrac alternative worth switching to should match or beat its guard tour basics — checkpoints, incident reporting, dispatch — while fixing what Silvertrac doesn't do: UK hosting, per-operative published pricing, and photo-verified evidence rather than tag scans. Pulse Operations, TrackTik, Guardhouse and SmartTask are the four most-compared options for UK security firms in 2026.

Key Takeaways

• Silvertrac Software pricing starts at $249.00 per month, with costs rising by device count and feature tier, according to Software Finder (2026).
• Silvertrac holds a 4.7 out of 5 rating on Capterra from 279 reviews, with 96% positive sentiment, per Capterra (2026).
• Trackforce Valiant acquired Silvertrac Software on 10 January 2020, according to CB Insights (2020) — a fact worth knowing if platform independence matters to your buying decision.
• The global security guard management software market is valued at $2.21 billion in 2025, projected to reach $4.33 billion by 2030 at a 14.4% CAGR, per The Business Research Company (2026).
• Pulse Operations verifies checkpoints with a mandatory watermarked photograph — officer, site, GPS, time — rather than an NFC or QR tag scan, and its live operational data shows 96.2% of checkpoints carry a photo across a trailing 90-day period (as of July 2026, see /benchmark).

What is a Silvertrac alternative?

A Silvertrac alternative is a piece of guard tour and workforce management software that performs the same core job as Silvertrac Software — proving that a security officer visited a checkpoint, logging incidents, and giving a control room live visibility of patrols — but through a different vendor, pricing model or verification mechanism. Silvertrac itself is a US-founded guard tour platform, acquired by Trackforce Valiant in January 2020, built around NFC and QR tag scanning at checkpoints.

Buyers look for an alternative for one of three reasons: cost (device-based pricing scales awkwardly for larger UK contract books), evidence quality (a tag scan proves a phone was near a barcode, not that a full patrol happened), or fit — UK firms operating under the Private Security Industry Act 2001 and SIA licensing rules often want compliance tracking (DBS, BS 7858 vetting, right to work) built into the same platform rather than bolted on separately.

Why UK security firms look beyond Silvertrac

Silvertrac earns its reputation. A 4.7/5 rating from 279 Capterra reviews and 96% positive sentiment is a genuinely strong result in a crowded category, and one reviewer, Melissa G., an Operations Manager, put it simply: "It's been a great tool for our company. I love that it files all reports in with the clients and the composer." That's real, verified user sentiment — not something to wave away.

But strong ratings don't answer every question a UK buyer has. Silvertrac is a US product, hosted on US infrastructure, priced from $249 per month with costs climbing per device according to Software Finder, and built around NFC/QR checkpoint scanning rather than photographic evidence. For a UK operator answerable to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) on data handling, or a client asking for proof a plant room was actually walked at 3am rather than a tag being tapped from the corridor, those are legitimate gaps.

The tag-scan problem

An NFC or QR checkpoint scan — a technology where an officer taps a phone against a fixed tag to log a visit — proves proximity to a tag, not that a patrol happened properly. A tag can be scanned through a letterbox, batch-scanned at the start of a shift, or scanned by anyone holding the phone. It's a known weakness in guard tour software generally, not a Silvertrac-specific flaw — but it's exactly the gap that photo-verified checkpoints close.

Pulse Operations was built to remove that ambiguity entirely. Every checkpoint on Pulse is completed only by a mandatory watermarked photograph — officer, site, GPS, time stamped directly onto the image. There is no tag-scan option at all, by design. If an officer can't produce the photo, the checkpoint isn't complete. That single mechanism is the difference most buyers are actually hunting for when they search "Silvertrac alternative."

How does Pulse Operations compare with Silvertrac?

Pulse Operations differs from Silvertrac in verification method, hosting location, pricing transparency and scope. Where Silvertrac scans NFC/QR tags, Pulse requires a watermarked photo at every checkpoint. Where Silvertrac's pricing rises by device, Pulse publishes per-operative pricing openly at /pricing with unlimited sites and free admin, control-room and client-portal seats. Where Silvertrac is a US company under Trackforce Valiant, Pulse is UK-built and UK-hosted with tenant isolation enforced in the data layer.

That last point matters more than any spec sheet. Full comparison detail sits at /vs-silvertrac.

What should you look for in a Silvertrac alternative?

The right Silvertrac alternative for a UK security firm should cover four things at minimum: verified checkpoint evidence, transparent pricing that scales with headcount rather than devices, UK data hosting, and a compliance layer that tracks SIA licensing and vetting alongside patrol data. Missing any one of these tends to resurface as a problem within the first renewal cycle.

Evidence quality. Ask whether checkpoint completion requires a photo, a scan, or a GPS ping alone. A watermarked photo — timestamped and geotagged — is far harder to dispute at handover than a scan log.

Pricing structure. Device-based pricing punishes firms that issue multiple phones per officer or run BYOD policies. Per-operative pricing, published openly rather than quoted after a demo, is easier to budget against — Pulse's tiers sit at /pricing.

Compliance breadth. UK firms need SIA licence expiry tracking, BS 7858 vetting records, DBS checks, right-to-work documents and — since the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, commonly known as Martyn's Law — a documented premises risk assessment. Software that tracks these on one runway avoids emails and spreadsheets doing the job instead.

Offline reliability. Officers work in basements, plant rooms and rural sites with patchy signal. An offline-first app that queues data and syncs later — without losing a checkpoint — matters more than any feature list suggests until the day it doesn't sync.

In practice: mobilising three buildings without losing site knowledge

Priority First — the founding team's own London security and FM operation, where Pulse was built and tested before being offered to other operators — added three buildings to a contract in a single July fortnight. Traditionally, mobilisation is where contracts wobble: site knowledge lives in one supervisor's head, and new officers start blind. With checkpoints, site notes, prior issues and inductions already live in Pulse before officers arrived, all three buildings went from a handshake to photographed patrols within days rather than weeks. Site history that used to exist only in someone's head was available to every new officer from day one.

Other Silvertrac alternatives worth considering

Pulse isn't the only serious option, and buyers researching Silvertrac alternatives typically shortlist three or four names.

• TrackTik — a long-established enterprise guard management platform, strong on large multi-site rostering and reporting depth; comparison at /vs-tracktik.
• Guardhouse — Australian-founded, lighter-weight scheduling and check-in tool, often shortlisted by smaller mobile patrol operators; comparison at /vs-guardhouse.
• SmartTask — UK-based workforce management with a scheduling-first approach, popular with event security firms; comparison at /vs-smarttask.
• Pulse Operations — UK-built, UK-hosted, photo-verified patrols with full compliance and FM built in.

A side-by-side across all four sits at /compare if you want the fuller picture before booking demos.

Software's dominant share of the category

Software makes up the overwhelming majority of spend in this market. Software is projected to hold nearly 68.6% of the security guard management software market in 2026, according to Persistence Market Research — services and hardware make up the remainder. That matters for buyers: the market is maturing around software-led solutions, not hardware add-ons, which is one reason tag-scanning hardware is increasingly seen as legacy rather than leading-edge.

How much does a Silvertrac alternative cost in the UK?

Silvertrac pricing starts at $249 per month according to Software Finder, with device and feature additions pushing that higher — a structure that can become unpredictable for firms scaling headcount rather than device count. Alternatives vary in structure: some price per site, some per device, some per user.

Pulse publishes three tiers openly at /pricing, priced per operative rather than per device, with unlimited sites and free admin, control-room and client-portal seats on every plan — so a growing roster doesn't mean a growing admin bill. Every plan includes guided setup, migration support and a parallel run on one site before full cutover; most firms complete the switch within a fortnight.

Worked scenario: a 40-officer mobile patrol firm

A mobile patrol company running 40 officers across multiple contracts, each officer issued one device, would see Silvertrac's device-based pricing scale roughly in line with headcount from its $249/month starting point — but feature tiers and add-ons can push the real number materially higher once dispatch, reporting and client portals are added. A per-operative model avoids that stacking effect because the quoted rate already includes the control room, compliance runway and client portal as standard.

Your Silvertrac alternative evaluation checklist

• Confirm whether checkpoints are verified by photo, NFC/QR scan, or GPS ping alone.
• Check whether pricing scales per device, per site, or per operative — and ask for the number in writing.
• Ask where the platform is hosted and whether tenant data is isolated at the infrastructure level.
• Test the offline mode on a phone with no signal before signing anything.
• Confirm SIA licence, BS 7858, DBS and right-to-work tracking exist inside the same platform.
• Ask whether a Martyn's Law premises assessment is supported, given the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025.
• Request a live client portal demo showing delivered-vs-contract reporting, not just a screenshot.
• Ask how long migration takes and whether a parallel run is included before full cutover.

In-house build vs off-the-shelf alternative

Some larger UK security firms consider building bespoke checkpoint software in-house rather than buying a Silvertrac alternative. It's rarely the right call outside of the very largest operators. A bespoke build means owning ongoing maintenance, mobile app store compliance, GDPR obligations under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, and every future feature request — costs that dwarf a monthly SaaS subscription for all but the biggest contract books. Off-the-shelf platforms, whether Silvertrac, TrackTik or Pulse, exist precisely because guard tour verification, dispatch and compliance tracking are solved problems; the differentiator is which vendor's mechanism and pricing model fits your operation, not whether to build one from scratch.

FAQ

What is the best alternative to Silvertrac Software?

The best alternative depends on what you're optimising for. TrackTik suits large multi-site enterprise contracts with deep reporting needs; Guardhouse suits smaller mobile patrol teams wanting lightweight scheduling; SmartTask suits event-heavy UK operators; Pulse Operations suits UK firms wanting photo-verified checkpoints, published per-operative pricing and UK hosting in one platform.

How much does Silvertrac Software cost compared to competitors?

Silvertrac starts at $249 per month with costs rising by device count and feature tier, according to Software Finder. Competitors price differently — some per site, some per device, some per operative — so always ask for a total monthly figure including add-ons before comparing headline rates.

What features should I look for in a Silvertrac alternative?

Look for verified checkpoint evidence (photo or scan), transparent scaling pricing, UK data hosting if you operate under UK GDPR, offline mobile functionality, and built-in SIA/BS 7858/DBS compliance tracking. A client-facing portal showing delivered-vs-contract data is increasingly a baseline expectation, not a premium extra.

Is there a free alternative to Silvertrac Software?

There is no widely-used free equivalent for full guard tour management with compliance and dispatch built in — the category is a paid-software market, valued at $2.21 billion in 2025 according to The Business Research Company. Free tools tend to cover only scheduling or basic checklists, not photo-verified checkpoints or audit-grade evidence.

What is the difference between Silvertrac and TrackTik?

Silvertrac is a mid-market guard tour platform acquired by Trackforce Valiant in January 2020 per CB Insights, built around NFC/QR checkpoint scanning. TrackTik is a larger enterprise-focused competitor with deeper multi-site reporting, typically aimed at bigger contract books. Full comparison at /vs-tracktik.

Who owns Silvertrac Software?

Trackforce Valiant acquired Silvertrac Software on 10 January 2020, according to CB Insights. It now operates as part of the wider Trackforce Valiant group of security workforce management products.

Which Silvertrac alternative is best for small UK security companies?

Smaller UK security and mobile patrol firms often prioritise pricing transparency and fast onboarding over enterprise reporting depth. Pulse Operations publishes tiers openly at /pricing with unlimited sites and free admin seats, and typically completes migration within a fortnight — relevant for firms that can't absorb a lengthy implementation project.

Choosing your Silvertrac alternative with Pulse Operations

If the reason you're reading this is a tag-scan dispute, a client asking for better proof of patrols, or pricing that's stopped making sense as your headcount grows, that's precisely the gap Pulse Operations was built to close. Every checkpoint runs on a mandatory watermarked photograph — officer, site, GPS, time — with no NFC or QR option at all, so there's no ambiguity about whether a patrol happened.

Pulse Operations's own live operational data shows 96.2% of checkpoints carry a photo across a trailing 90-day period, tracked openly at /benchmark. The platform was built inside Priority First, the founding team's own London security and FM operation, where a 16-building central London estate now runs over 4,100 patrols since March 2026 with 100% of checkpoint completions photo-verified — proof that the model holds at scale, not just in a demo.

Explore photo-verified patrols, see the white-label client portal, or book a walkthrough via /tour to see how a switch from Silvertrac would actually look for your contract book.
